In Europe, Germany was the leading doll making country. Three paper mache dolls made in Germany, these are the oldest dolls in the collection. The head, arms, and legs are made of paper-mache, with brown/black bodies stuffed with sawdust or straw. The eyes are stationary, pupiless and black glass. Two of the dolls have mouth hinges that can open if you push the lever inside the chest.
