Folk Art

Folk Art

These dolls were hand-made or hand crafted in America, especially when Americans could not afford expensive European dolls. Most of these folk dolls represent the southern blacks from 1800s. Many dolls were from discarded clothes, so they were called rag dolls. Different types of material were used to make these dolls such as nuts, cornhusk, tobacco and bottles.
